Plenty of car campers don’t just bring a tent. They tow a trailer with an ATV, a side-by-side or a couple of dirt bikes, and a dead battery at the trailhead can end the trip before it starts. These are the powersports batteries selling best on Amazon right now (we checked Amazon’s Powersports Batteries best-seller list on October 28, 2026), plus a few well-known upgrades. We’ve also added the most popular solar battery maintainers, small 12V panels that keep a battery topped up while your machine sits at camp or in storage with no outlet nearby. This is a research roundup based on best-seller rankings, manufacturer specs and owner reviews, not hands-on testing. Prices change daily, so check the current price before you buy.
How to pick the right size
- Match the battery code first. Powersports batteries use size codes like YTX14-BS, YTX20L-BS or YTX4L-BS. Find the code on your old battery or in your owner’s manual, and buy that code or a listed direct replacement. The code covers the case size and the terminal layout.
- Check terminal orientation. An “L” in the code usually means the positive and negative terminals are reversed compared with the non-L version (YTX20L-BS vs YTX20-BS). The wrong layout can leave your cables too short to reach.
- Meet or beat the CCA. Cold cranking amps (CCA) tell you how well the battery starts an engine in the cold. Stay at or above your original battery’s rating, especially for fall and winter trips.
- AGM vs gel vs lithium. AGM is the sealed, maintenance-free standard and the best value. Gel is similar but handles vibration and deep discharges a little differently. Lithium (LiFePO4) is much lighter and often cranks harder, but it costs more.
- Lithium has two catches. It needs a lithium-compatible charger (an older lead-acid charger can damage it), and it can struggle to crank in deep cold until it warms up. If you ride in freezing weather, check the manufacturer’s cold-weather guidance before switching.

1. Mighty Max YTX14-BS (best budget pick)
This was #1 on Amazon’s Powersports Batteries best-seller list when we checked, at $39.99 at time of writing. It’s a sealed, maintenance-free AGM battery rated 12 Ah and 200 CCA, in the YTX14-BS size that fits a lot of mid-size utility quads. It’s a sensible pick if you just need your ATV to start again without spending much.
2. Weize YTX14-BS (most-reviewed value pick)
Weize’s YTX14-BS listing family has nearly 58,000 Amazon ratings, more than anything else in the category, and it has topped the best-seller list in recent snapshots. Weize lists its YTX14-BS at 12 Ah and 200 CCA, sealed AGM. Owner reviews are mostly positive about fit and value, though a noticeable share report batteries that stopped holding a charge, so keep your receipt.
3. Mighty Max YTX4L-BS (for pit bikes and youth quads)
If the machine on your trailer is a small dirt bike, pit bike or kids’ ATV, this is the tiny battery it probably uses. It’s rated 3 Ah and 50 CCA, sealed AGM, and it had over 11,000 Amazon ratings when we checked. It was $19.99 at time of writing, cheap enough to keep a spare in the trailer.
4. Chrome S Pro iGel YTX14-BS (gel pick)
A gel option in the popular YTX14-BS size, rated 16 Ah and 210 CCA, with a built-in LCD voltage display so you can see the charge level at a glance. That display is handy at camp when you’re wondering whether the quad will start in the morning. It was $46.95 at time of writing.
5. UPLUS YTX30L-BS (for big UTVs and jet skis)
Large side-by-sides, big-bore ATVs and some personal watercraft use the larger YTX30L-BS size. This sealed AGM battery is rated 30 Ah and 400 CCA, and it ranked in the top 10 of Amazon’s list when we checked, at $79.99 at time of writing. It’s the pick if you run a winch, lights or other accessories off your machine.
6. Weize Lithium YTX30L-BS (lithium pick)
A LiFePO4 replacement for the YTX30L-BS size, listed at 10 Ah and 700A with a built-in battery management system (BMS). Lithium batteries weigh far less than AGM, which matters if you lift batteries in and out for winter storage. It was $89.99 at time of writing. Remember the catches: use a lithium-compatible charger, and expect slower cold-weather starts.
7. Yuasa YTX20L-BS (premium pick)
Yuasa is a long-established powersports battery brand, and its YTX20L-BS (model YUAM320BS) is a common upgrade for larger ATVs, UTVs and snowmobiles. Yuasa rates it at 18 Ah and 270 CCA. It ships dry with a separate acid pack, so you fill and activate it yourself before first use. It costs much more than the budget options, around $112 on Amazon at time of writing.
Bonus: Battery Tender Junior
Most powersports batteries die from sitting, not from riding. The Battery Tender Junior is a 12V, 750 mA automatic charger and maintainer, and it’s one of the best-selling battery products in the category. Clip it on in the garage between trips and your battery is ready when you hitch up the trailer. If you switch to lithium, check that your maintainer has a lithium mode before you use it.
Solar battery maintainers: keep it charged with no outlet
A plug-in maintainer like the Battery Tender only works where there’s an outlet. At a campsite, a trailhead or a storage lot, a small 12V solar panel does the same job. It trickles a little power into the battery during the day to make up for slow self-discharge and small drains like clocks, alarms and GPS units. The picks below were popular on Amazon’s Solar Battery Chargers & Charging Kits best-seller list when we checked on October 28, 2026. Specs come from each Amazon listing; this is research, not hands-on testing.
A few things to know first:
- These maintain; they don’t revive. A small panel keeps a healthy battery topped up. It won’t quickly recharge a dead one. Charge a flat battery with a proper charger first.
- Size the panel to the job. A few watts is fine for a motorcycle or ATV battery sitting for a week or two. For a car, truck or big UTV battery, or anything with an alarm or accessories drawing power, look at 10 to 20 watts.
- Clip to the battery when you can. Many cars cut power to the 12V socket when the ignition is off, so a panel plugged into the “cigarette lighter” may not reach the battery at all. On ATVs, UTVs and jet skis, the alligator clips or ring terminals are the way to go.
- Lithium batteries: where a listing says it supports LiFePO4, we note it below. Still check your battery maker’s charging limits before you leave any charger connected.
| Pick | Panel | Charge control (per listing) | LiFePO4 listed? | Price at time of writing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| POWOXI 7.5W | 7.5W, 12V | Built-in controller, blocking diode, overcharge protection | Yes | $39.99 |
| SOLPERK 20W kit | 20W, 12V | Separate MPPT controller, 3-stage charging | Yes | $31.49 |
| SUNER POWER 12W Pro | 12W, 12V | Built-in MPPT controller, 3-stage, 8 protections | Yes | $53.99 |
| ECO-WORTHY 10W | 10W, 12V | Blocking diode, overcharge and reverse protection | Not stated | $28.99 |
| SUNAPEX 1.8W | 1.8W, 12V | Built-in controller, auto cut-off when full | Yes | $22.99 |
POWOXI 7.5W (best-selling solar maintainer)
This was #1 on Amazon’s Solar Battery Chargers & Charging Kits best-seller list when we checked, with over 6,600 ratings. It’s a 7.5-watt, 12V panel with a built-in charge controller and blocking diode, and POWOXI says it protects against overcharging, overvoltage and short circuits. It comes with both a 12V socket plug and alligator clips, and the listing names motorcycles, ATVs and LiFePO4 batteries among its uses. It was $39.99 at time of writing. Owner reviews are mostly positive, but a share report panels failing within the first year, so keep your receipt.
SOLPERK 20W kit (most power for the money)
The SOLPERK kit pairs a 20-watt panel (aluminum frame, tempered glass, rated IP67) with a separate MPPT charge controller that uses three-stage charging to prevent overcharging. It also comes with an adjustable mounting bracket. It’s an Amazon’s Choice pick with about 3,800 ratings, and it ranked #2 in Amazon’s Solar Panels best-sellers when we checked. The listing says it works with LiFePO4, AGM, gel and flooded 12V batteries. At $31.49 at time of writing, it’s the best pick for a car battery, a big UTV or a trailer that sits for weeks. Some owners say the bracket feels flimsy.
SUNER POWER 12W Pro (best smart controller)
SUNER POWER builds the MPPT controller into this 12-watt panel and lists three-stage charging (bulk, absorption, float) plus eight protections, including overcharge, reverse polarity and over-temperature. It stops charging when the battery is full and resumes when the voltage drops. The listing specifically names powersports, motorcycle, ATV and LiFePO4 batteries. It was #3 on the solar battery charger best-seller list and $53.99 at time of writing (Amazon lists its typical price as $59.99). A few owners report confusing indicator lights.
ECO-WORTHY 10W (budget 10-watt pick)
A simple 10-watt, 12V trickle panel with a blocking diode to stop night-time drain, plus overcharge and reverse-connection protection on its circuit board. It has about 6,500 ratings and was in the top 10 of the solar battery charger list when we checked, at $28.99 at time of writing. The listing names ATVs, motorcycles and trucks. It doesn’t mention lithium, so we’d stick to lead-acid and AGM batteries with this one. Reviewers often complain about the suction cups.
SUNAPEX 1.8W (tiny pick for motorcycles and small quads)
At only 1.8 watts, this is the smallest panel here. It’s meant to offset slow drain on small batteries like a motorcycle, a youth ATV or a lawn tractor, not to charge a car battery. It has a built-in controller that stops charging when the battery is full, and the listing says it works with AGM, gel, flooded and LiFePO4 batteries. It was #6 on the solar battery charger best-seller list and $22.99 at time of writing.
Safety and maintenance tips
- Charge before storage. Top the battery off before the off-season and keep it on a maintainer (plug-in or solar), or charge it every few weeks.
- Disconnect negative first, reconnect it last. It lowers the risk of a short when your wrench touches the frame.
- Follow the activation steps exactly for dry-shipped batteries like the Yuasa. Battery acid burns skin and eyes, so wear gloves and eye protection.
- Strap it down. Trailer and trail vibration kills batteries, so make sure the hold-down is tight.
- Don’t jump a powersports battery from a running car. A car’s charging system can overwhelm a small battery. Jump from a car that’s switched off, or use a jump pack.
